Help for women passengers travelling alone on trains

Women passengers travelling alone on trains and wanting a change of berth or seat can now avail the services of a senior lady railway official to help them out.
This follows requests from many women as they felt uncomfortable or insecure on being alloted seats or berths among male passengers, a Southern Railway release said.
The official, in the rank of Assistant Commercial Manager, would provide assistance to them and take necessary action. They could contact her on 9003160980.
Women should ensure that the complaint is genuine and the situation really warrants lodging it.They should state their name and give their mobile number, it said.

In addition to the above facility, women could also contact an Exclusive Security Helpline No-182 functioning round the clock on issues of safety and security, the release said.
