A highly-decomposed body of a man was found in a jungle in the Kulgaon area of Thane district, police said Monday.

The corpse, which has been found on Sunday evening near a nullah in the Pimpaldara jungle, was found with its private parts chopped off, a Kulgaon police station official informed.

"It is of a man who was between 30-40 years of age. It is 8-10 days old with several stab wounds. We suspect he was murdered and then his body disposed of in the jungle." he said.

A case has been registered at Kulgaon police station under section 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code, he added.
