Himachal HC provides temporary relief to PAT teachers

A division bench of the High Court comprising of Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice Sanjay Karol stayed the single bench order of the Justice Rajiv Sharma, who passed the judgement on October 18 last, directing the government to phase out the teachers appointed under PAT scheme of 2003.

The bench ordered that further action for phasing out the PATs would be deferred for the time being.

However, the Court also directed the government not to regularise the any unqualified PAT as JBT.

The HC further directed the Secretary, Education and Director, Elementary Education to clarify that how many vacancies were available in the state since 2009 in JBT cadre including the backlog, how many vacancies have been filled and vacancies still to be filled.
