Himachal, MP CM meet PM

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi here and sought restoration of special industrial package for the state and central excise exemption for ten years for new industries.
During the meeting, Singh urged the PM for revival of a special industrial package to the state and restore the income tax exemption for five years and central excise exemption for for ten years for new industries in the state till 2020, according to a statement issued by the HP government in Shimla.
Singh also raised the issue of uniform funding of centrally-sponsored projects in Himachal in the ratio of 90:10 (90 per cent Central grant and ten percent state share) as applicable to all hill states, it said.
Singh apprised the Prime Minister about the state's potential in hydropower, eco tourism and other eco-friendly industries and said efforts were being made to involve public and private sectors to tap the potential.
Singh also met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and sought his support for development of the state.
Virbhadra Singh said important issues of the state were discussed during separate meetings with Modi and Jaitley.
"The state has a narrow resource base and people craving for development are also equally concerned about preserving the environment and cultural heritage of the state," he said.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also met the Prime Minister today.
