Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan feels that employing simple vocabulary of Hindi language in governance will bridge the gap between the administration and common people.
"Hindi's simple vocabulary in governance will bridge the gap between administration and people as it is a powerful medium for dialogue and extending benefits to people," the Chief Minister said while chairing a session on "Hindi in Governance" at ongoing 10th Vishwa Hindi Sammelan here yesterday.
Chouhan said administrators used to maintain distance from people before Independence using English, which later created a mentality that only a speaker of English is the best.
"Such mentality still exists among some people who are votaries to dominance of English," the CM said, adding that he is not against any language but is of the view that English can never become the common man's language in India.
He underlined that there is no lack of talent, capacity and ability among Hindi-medium students.
"This has been proved by SC and ST students of remote areas of the state who passed entrance tests of national-level educational institutions this year," Chouhan said.
He said Hindi is a language of knowledge, science and technology and added that the use of simple Hindi will be promoted by implementing suggestions to be put forth in the ongoing convention.
Former Union minister Satyanarayan Jatiya observed that Hindi is rapidly spreading in the country.
"In institutions like ISRO, 92 per cent correspondence is made in Hindi, which is encouraging for people," he said.
