Hireling on run for two years arrested

A hireling, who was reportedly involved in more than nine murders, was arrested near Samayanallur today after being on run for more than two years, police said.
A country-made pistol and six bullets were also recovered from his possession.
Police had been searching for Kattairaja (36) for the past two years at various places, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Thanjavur and Tiruvavur.
Kattairaja, who was arrested in connection with a murder at Thanjavur, had managed to give police a slip. A special team had been formed to nab him.
Meanwhile, police received information that he was hiding near Samayanallur. A team monitored his movements and arrested him there today. The pistol and bullets were seized from him.

Kattairaja was also an associate of one Pandiyan of Dindigul, who was killed in an encounter some years ago.
