It was a hot Sunday for Delhiites, with the mercury settling over 42 degrees Celsius, two notches above the normal.
According to the MeT department, the minimum temperature was recorded at 26 degrees Celsius, two notches below the normal while the maximum was recored at 42.5 degrees Celsius.
The humidity level oscillated between 23 per cent and 70 per cent.
The desert state of Rajasthan reeled under blistering heat wave conditions.
According to the MeT office in Jaipur, Churu recorded the highest temperature at 45.1 degrees Celsius, followed by Barmer which sizzled at 44.8 degrees.
Jaipur, Sriganganagar, Pilani recorded day temperatures of 44, 43.5 and 43.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The MeT office, in a forecast, said mercury would further rise in the state during the next 24 hours.
Hot weather conditions also prevailed in most parts of Punjab and Haryana with Hisar being the hottest place in the region.
Hisar in Haryana recorded its maximum at 43.2 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. Among other places in the state, Ambala and Narnaul braved hot weather at 40.6 and 41 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The Union Territory Chandigarh recorded its high at 40 degrees, a notch above normal.
The MeT department predicted dry weather conditions in Punjab and Haryana in the next 24 hours.
