Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur congratulated Lieutenant Commander Pratibha Jamwal for being named as a recipient for the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure award.
Jamwal sailed around the world in eight months with an all-women crew aboard an Indian naval vessel.
President Ram Nath Kovind will honour her with the award in a ceremony to be organised at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on September 25.
The chief minister said it was a great achievement by Jamwal as this award was the highest national recognition for outstanding achievements in the field of adventure.
Thakur said Jamwal, who hails from Kullu district, brought laurels to the state and the country.
