Haryana government today said it will reward those individuals who voluntarily surrender their social security pension "for the sake of state".
A campaign titled 'Give It Up' would be launched to implement this scheme and the individuals giving up social security pension voluntarily will be rewarded with a gold-plated 'surrender certificate', Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said.
The certificate would be embossed with signatures of the Chief Minister and the Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, a statement released by the government said.
Even the 'ineligible persons', who are currently availing pension, would be honoured if they surrender before August and no legal action would be taken against them, it said.
Thereafter, only eligible pensioners surrendering their pensions would be honoured on special days, like November 1 (Haryana day), January 26, August 15 and October 2, the statement said.
Khattar also said that approval has been granted for adoption of Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) for new pensioners with amendments to automatic exclusion principles.
Those persons who own motorised four-wheeler, motorised four-wheeler agricultural implement or tractor, members of household earning more than Rs 20,000 per month and refrigerator with more than 165 litre capacity would be excluded, he said.
The Chief Minister said to crackdown on illegal beneficiaries, a cash reward of Rs 25,000 would be given to a person, including disbursing agent, for giving information about a group of five persons or more, and a reward of Rs 5,000 for one giving information about a single defaulter.
Around 23.26 lakh people avail social security pension in the state involving an outlay of Rs 3,400 crore per annum.
A whopping 1.75 lakh "fake" pension accounts were detected by the government last year while resorting to Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
