The Haryana government is likely to reduce the power tariff for domestic consumers, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said today.
Speaking in Kaithal, Khattar said since the inception of the state, for the first time, Uttar and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam have earned profits this year.
The chief minister said that the state government has fixed a target of providing electricity for 18 to 24 hours in rural areas under 'Mhara Gaon, Jagmag Gaon' scheme.
As per rule, power supply was increased at the feeders that had cut down on line losses, he said.
Replying to a question posed by media persons, Khattar said that holding Assembly and Lok Sabha polls together in 2019 seems impossible.
"However, this could be possible in 2024 elections," he said.
Khattar further said a new initiative-- 'Mukhya Mantri Se Sidhi Baat' was started in villages with population over 10,000 under which direct interaction is held with the people.
He said that through another initiative- 'Chai Pe Charcha', he was taking feedback from the people on the development work being done by the government.
The government was making concerted efforts to provide basic facilities to 2.5 crore population of the state, he said.
