HUL appoints Kalpana Morparia an independent director

Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) today appointed Kalpana Morparia, Chief Executive Officer, J P Morgan, India as an independent director on its board with immediate effect.
Morparia is an independent director on the boards of several companies including Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd, Bennett Coleman & Company Ltd, Phillip Morris International Inc and CMC Ltd.
"Kalpana's vast experience and proven track record of leadership will add tremendous value to our board," HUL Chairman Harish Manwani said in a statement.
Prior to joining J P Morgan India, Morparia served as Vice Chair on the boards of ICICI Group companies. She was the Joint Managing Director of the ICICI Group from 2001 to 2007.

At HUL board, she will be a member of the audit and corporate social responsibility committees, the FMCG major said.
"I am delighted to join the Board of this iconic company. I look forward to my role as an Independent Director of one of the most respected consumer companies," Morparia said.
