Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar's autobiography 'Playing It My Way' has smashed its way into record books with nearly 200,000 copies being sold within two days of its release and naturally co-author Boria Majumdar is elated.
"I am humbled by the response from the readers which again establishes the fact that Sachin Tendulkar is most revered and loved sportsperson in India. The readers are curious and want to know more about the Little Master. It is but natural that book has been accepted by the cricket lovers as well as die-hard Sachin Tendulkar fans," Majumdar told PTI today.
It took three years of collaboration with the batting icon before the book finally took shape.
"When the idea was first mooted to Sachin, he was still playing active international cricket and we didn't want him to feel disturbed. But finally nearly a year after his retirement, we could bring out the book. Considering all the effort that has been put in primarily by Sachin, it's worth the wait," said the noted sports journalist and cricket historian.
Asked about what were the basic ideas that were put in place while writing the book, Majumdar said, "This is Sachin's book in his own language and I was just his medium of expression."
On Tendulkar's decision to skirt the match-fixing issue in the book, the co-author said, "Sachin wrote that he finds match-fixing repulsive. Also as he has said, he needs to be hundred percent aware about what he knows and what he is writing. We also took legal opinion and that's how we went about it."
Majumdar said that Tendulkar has expressed free and frank opinion about all the issues that he thought were important and relevant.
"He wrote about Greg Chappell episode, about his captaincy period, about Monekygate, ball tampering controversy. I guess he has frank opinions on all these issues," Majumdar concluded.
