Two persons, including a relative, have been arrested for the murder of a 40-year-old woman at her apartment in Shakti Khand area of Indirapuram.
The victim, Rajbala, was found murdered in her apartment on October 30 following which a complaint was registered by her husband Dharampal against unknown assailants, Deputy Superintendent of Police Atul Yadav said.
The relatives and friends of the victim were interrogated during the probe after which Daharampal's nephew Hari Om Saini and his accomplice Arman were arrested from Vaishali Metro station today, he said.
During sustained interrogation Hari Om confessed to killing Rajbala as he was jealous of the rising wealth of his uncle Dharampal, Yadav said.
Hari Om said that he had asked his uncle several times for financial support to which he always denied. A plot of land was also the bone of contention between uncle and the nephew, the Dy SP said.
To settle scores with his uncle, Hari Om and Arman went to his apartment on October 30, had tea and biscuits with Rajbala and then slit her throat with a razor after gagging her. The duo then decamped with two mobile phones and Rs 2,085 in cash, Yadav said.
Both the accused has been arrested and weapon of offence and the looted property has been recovered, the Dy SP said.
