Bates, 66, took part in host Andy Cohen's "Plead the Fifth" segment on "Watch What Happens Live", where guests are asked three questions and allowed to skip, reported Us magazine.
Bates was first questioned about her time filming 'Titanic', and asked which of her co-stars she would not have room for on her raft. After struggling to name one, she landed finally on Billy Zane.
When answering the second question, the Oscar-winning actress revealed her famous smoking buddy.
"Kathy Bates, who is the bigger pothead: Susan Sarandon or Matthew McConaughey?" Cohen asked.
Pushing Bates to answer, Cohen asked if the bigger stoner was in fact McConaughey.
"No... No, cause I played his mother in Failure to Launch, he's a sweet boy," she said of the star and the 2006 film.
"He was headed down the wrong path and now he's (taking off)."
"Sarandon - you're giving it to Sarandon," Cohen countered.
"Well, I actually shared some dope with her last June. Yeah, I was with Melissa McCarthy, we were shooting Tammy, and I was staying at Susan's house in Figure Eight Island off Wilmington, and she had some good... But I didn't inhale!," Bates said.
