The branch would be set up in the Shantirbazar Forest division in South Tripura district which would conduct research on forest resources like bamboo, timber and impart education on forestry and Wildlife.
Director General of ICFRE Dr V K Bahuguna met Tripura Forest Minister Jiten Chowdhury yesterday and the state government assured him of full cooperation in setting up the branch in the state.
The objectives of ICFRE include to promote and coordinate forestry education, research and its application, developing forest extension programmes and propagate the same through mass media, audio-visual aids and extension machinery.
