Organisers of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) today said all the necessary infrastructure for the 10-day long event that kickstarts on November 20 would be put in place by next Tuesday.
The event organisers, who saw a change in their chieftain after Manohar Parrikar was replaced by Laxmikant Parsekar as the Goa Chief Minister last week, have been holding series of meetings over infrastructure issues.
"We will definitely make everything ready by November 18. All the preparations are in the final stage," Damodar Naik, vice chairman of the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), a government-run nodal agency hosting the festival, said.
The IFFI would be held from November 20 to 30.
Naik said the inaugural ceremony would be held at Dr Shamaprasad Mukherjee stadium here, which has a capacity to accommodate around 5,000 people.
According to him, the organisers are trying to make this event self-sustaining without the need to bank on government funds.
"Attempts are on to ensure that we get maximum sponsorship," Naik stated.
Total 11,207 delegates, including 300 delegates from the film fraternity, have registered themselves for the festival so far.
