"The university has received a record three lakh applications for the July 2015 cycle, and there has been an increase of more than 29 per cent as compared to last year," a university official said.
"The student's registration in the difficult and remote regions like Northeast (7 states) and Jammu and Kashmir have also shown increase. IGNOU has registered a 4 per cent growth in the northeastern states and 20 per cent in Jammu and Kashmir," he added.
The university has also permitted the vertical mobility for Indian Army and Indian Air Force personnel under Project Gyandeep (Army), into 3rd year of BA/ BCom/ Bsc (Hons) Applied Sciences from this session. "Under the scheme 7500 applications have been received," he added.
The varsity had come up with a pan-India online admission system earlier this year and July 2015 cycle was the first to accept applications through this system.
