The premier institute said in a statement that the Union HRD Ministry extended Shah's services for five years.
Previously, a member of the Board of Governors at IIM Bangalore, Shah was appointed as Director, IIM Udaipur, in 2011- the year of its inception.
He has also served as the Post Graduate programme chairperson for three years, the Management Programme for technologist co-ordinator for 1 year, and has been member of various committees including Institute vision committee.
Prior to taking up the assignment at Udaipur, Shah had served also as a visiting scholar at US Sloan School of Management, Massachusettes Institute of Technology (MIT), Logistic Institute at National University in Singapore and a Special Professor at Nottingham University in the UK.
