The fifth edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF), an annual event organised jointly by the science and technology departments of Government of India and an organisation, will be held here between November 5 and 8, the organisers said on Thursday.
Vijnana Bharati (Vibha) is the other organiser and an estimated 12,000 participants from India and abroad are expected to attend the programme.
The science meet, themed on RISEN India Research, Innovation and Science Empowering the Nation - will celebrate the country's scientific and technological advancements with students, innovators, craftsmen, farmers, scientists and technocrats from India and abroad, the organisers said.
IISF seeks to encourage young minds in the field of science and to promote networking of stakeholders working towards the propagation of science, they said.
The science meet will witness 28 events which will be held across the city in different venues like the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Science City, Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Bose Institute and Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, the organisers said in a statement.
For school goers a Students Science Village has been planned and more than 2500 of them from all over the country have been invited to participate in it, it said.
Every MP has been asked to nominate five students each along with their teacher from their constituency under 'Pradhan Mantri Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana' for it, the statement said.
Around 1,500 young scientists and researchers will interact with experts of international repute at the Young Scientists Conference, which will be held on the occasion.
An exhibition of Indias scientific and technological prowess will also be held, it added.
