The timber was seized in a joint operation by the Central Forest Control Room and sleuths of the Forest Protection Force in the forest division here, Divisional Forest Officer, Bhadarwah, Vivek Verma said.
He said 142.65 cubic feet of illicit timber, worth lakhs of rupees, was found dumped at different places in the maize fields.
"The timber was perhaps extracted from green cedar about three years back and was dumped by the culprits at different places for smuggling," Verma said.
He said a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Forest Act.
