A cadet of the Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala in Kannur district was electrocuted while three others escaped unhurt when the mast of a boat touched an overhead high-tension electric cable.
The incident occurred during an ongoing training camp when the cadets were sailing from Marrakkar Watermanship Training Centre to Madakara in Kasargod in whaler sailing boats.
The boat mast touched an overhead high tension electric cable inadvertently, resulting in serious injuries to cadet Satveer Sngh Ghara from Punjab, an INA release said.
The cadets were taken to Pariyaram Medical College hospital by INA rescue boats and local fishermen, where the seriously injured cadet passed away, it said.
