India-Africa December summit cancelled due to Ebola

The India-Africa Summit, which was scheduled to be attended by 53 countries in December, has been cancelled this year due to Ebola outbreak in that continent.
With the government expecting nearly 1000 delegates including ministers, government officials, business leaders and others, for the Summit, it was logistically difficult given the public health guidelines to manage, the Spokesperson in the External Affairs Ministry said here.
He said the government will work with the African Union on the fresh dates for summit which will now be held only in 2015.
The third India-Africa Summit was to take place in Gurgaon on December four.

The deadly Ebola virus had hit the region earlier this year and has killed nearly 2,200 people in several countries there. The UN Security Council has also declared the outbreak of the Ebola virus in West Africa a "threat to international peace and security".
