Over 120 Chinese industry and government representatives attended the India-China Investment Seminar organised on the sidelines of the fifth China-South Asia Expo in Kunming city.
The Indian consulate in Guangzhou organised the seminar yesterday. The event was supported by the Yunnan International Expositions Bureau, a press release from the consulate said.
Consul General Sailas Thangal, Hao Yishan, Deputy Director General, Yunnan International Expositions Bureau, Gao Shaoxun, Vice Governor, Yunnan People's provincial government, and Ajay Sahai, Director General, Federation of Indian Exporters Organisation, spoke at the event.
China-South Asia Expo and the China Kunming Import and Export Fair, held annually in Kunming, is one of the more prominent gatherings of industry leaders and saw many forums hosted during this session, the release said.
The seminar received very positive response and reviews from more than 120 representatives from industry and government who attended the event, it said.
State-run Xinhua news agency reported that a total of 266 contracts were signed during the China-South Asia Expo.
Deals were concluded in sectors of green energy, green food and tourism, according to the provincial bureau of investment.
International contracts were also signed, involving firms from Germany, Japan and the Netherlands, among other countries and regions.
More than 3,800 companies from 87 countries and regions are attending the week-long exposition, with over 40 per cent of enterprises from overseas.
Yunnan is a province in southwest China and a gateway to Southeast Asia and South Asia.
