The restaurant founded by renowned restaurateur Rohit Khattar and helmed by celebrated Chef Manish Mehrotra, has been receiving rave reviews ever since it opened late last month and has already hosted Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman among its early diners.
"We have been evaluating multiple opportunities to open another Indian Accent, but none have been as exciting and promising as New York City. We have just opened and hope that New York too shall embrace our inventive Indian cuisine," said Khattar, Chairman of Old World Hospitality, which operates two convention and performing arts centres and two hotels in the NCR region and over 40 restaurants across India.
The 60-seat modern Indian restaurant in midtown Manhattan is fast becoming a preferred destination for fine dining in New York City and Rahman was among the early celebrated diners at the new international location, Khattar said.
A team of chefs from the original Indian Accent are assisting Mehrotra in the kitchen in New York as the restaurant establishes a foothold in the city's competitive fine dining market.
Indian Accent's contemporary Indian menu showcases Mehrotra's ability to merge varied techniques with traditional flavor profiles, the company said in a press statement.
Seasonal, local produce and locally-sourced proteins are complimented by authentic Indian spices and diverse ingredients from across the world - all of which are treated with modern techniques by Mehrotra's team.
The restaurant is offering its elegantly-served menu in a selection of two, three or four courses as well as a set chef tasting menu of seven courses that includes unique gourmet tweaks.
Indian Accent New Delhi's trademark 'Stuffed Kulchas' also make an appearance here and include traditional, favorite stuffings such as Butter Chicken and Saag Paneer as well as Applewood Smoked Bacon and Pastrami with Mustard Butter, as a special salute to New York.
Wanting to incorporate elements of the original Indian Accent, the centerpiece of the room is an 11 foot high hand gold-leafed wall, with a geometric Indian jaali motif.
