Indian boxers to return home from Amman early tomorrow

After a highly successful campaign at the ASBC Asian Boxing Championship in Amman, the Indian male pugilists, including gold medallist Shiva Thapa will return home in the wee hours here tomorrow.
The 14-member squad, including 10 boxers and four coaches, will take a direct flight from Amman and touch down at terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport at 4:35 am tomorrow.
The Indian boxers will return home with a four medal haul (1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal) that saw them finish joint second along with Ukraine in the overall rankings of the Asian Championships.
Besides Thapa (56kg), who joined the elite club of Indian boxers credited with winning an Asian Championship gold medal after being crowned the Continental Champion, other boxers include Olympian L Devendro Singh (49kg) and Limassol Boxing Cup Champion Mandeep Jangra (69kg), who are returning from the tournament with a silver each.
Among other boxers will be Commonwealth Games gold medallist Manoj Kumar (64kg), who lost out to London Olympics bronze medallist Uranchimegiin Monkh-Erdene of Mongolia in the semi-finals of the light welter weight division to settle for a bronze medal.
Others in the squad include, Madan Lal, Vikash Malik, Sukhdeep Singh Bhatti, Jagroop Singh, Dinesh Kumar, Satish Kumar. The coaches include, GS Sandhu, BI Fernandez, Jaydev Bisht and Ramanand.
