Indian Institute of Chemical Technology to set up science park

To promote science among school and college students, city-based CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), has planned for setting up a 'science park' at its Narayanguda premises here.
This park, will be showcasing the significant technologies from entire CSIR from all over India (37 laboratories), which will be kept open for students, visitors and general public to popularise and promote science, a release said today.
Some of the key projects of CSIR-IICT of social relevance that will be showcased include 'Membrane technology' for pure drinking water in fluorosis affected areas of the country, 'Samadhan Kendra' a rural IT centre for the benefit of the rural populace and farmers.
Generation of energy (biogas) from kitchen waste and from poultry litter and Pheromones,(organic substances released by the organisms for communication purpose within their own species) as alternatives to pesticides will be among the projects that will be showcased, it added.
CSIR-IICT Hyderabad, a constituent of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) under the Centre, is a one of the leading research institute in the area of chemical sciences.
Till now, CSIR-IICT has developed over 150 technologies which are in commercial production.
