India's acting High Commissioner, Ninad Deshpande delivered Mahatma Gandhi's peace message after garlanding his statue at the school premises.
The students of the Global Indian International School (GIIS) Singapore heard the Mahatma's struggle for independence from keynote speakers, Dr V P Nair and Ameerali Jumabhoy, the two lead members of thecommittee organising Gandhi Jayanti and International Day of Non-Violence here.
Lee Kwang Boon, vice president of the United Nations Association of Singapore also addressed the GIIS Students.
The Indian community also held another observation at the Gandhi Memorial Hall in the Little India precinct here.
