Infant deaths: New superintendent of G B Pant Hospital named

"With a view to improve the health delivery system, the government today engaged Dr Muneer Ahmad Masoodi, a retired professor of Government Medical College in Srinagar, as Medical Superintendent of G B Pant Hospital with immediate effect," an official spokesman said.

The government also ordered transfer of several officials of the health and medical department.

Muneer Ahmad Khan, resident medical officer at SMHS Hospital Srinagar, has been transferred to G B Pant Hospital, the spokesman said.

An assistant surgeon at G B Pant Hospital, Shafqat Rasool, has been moved to SMHS Hospital, he added.

Four more children died at the hospital overnight, taking the death toll at Kashmir's only paediatric hospital to 363 this year.
