Infosys Chairperson offers to promote work of Punjab artisans

Activist and Chairperson of Infosys Foundation, Sudha Murthy, today met Punjab Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal for a joint effort to promote the work of the state's artisans and help in women empowerment.
Praising Punjab government's initiatives in giving ample opportunities to girls right from the beginning of their education till they enter into some productive venture, Murthy offered to engage world class designers for 'Phulkari' (embroidery technique) and inlay works from the state to capture international market.
She said that her organisation would also institute awards and prizes for outstanding women entrepreneurs and artists in these fields, a Punjab government release quoting her said.
Welcoming the ideas, Kaushal said that the government would work out the modalities in giving a final shape to her initiative.
He also announced setting up of a committee under the chairmanship of Rajinder Gupta, Vice Chairman Punjab Planning Board in this regard.
Two members from Infosys would also be included in the committee, he added.
