A 12-year-old tribal boy, who lost his left palm in a sugarcane crushing mill, has been admitted to hospital by the Koraput district administration, officials said today.
After preliminary treatment at Nabarangpur hospital, the Class V student's family had taken him home where his condition worsened, Assistant Labour Commissioner (Jeypore), Sunil Kumar Sahu said.
The boy was then brought here and admitted to the district headquarter hospital yesterday, he said.
The victim, identified as Damburu Jani of Pujariput village had visited the sugarcane crushing unit with his elder brother, who runs the unit, when the accident occurred on Saturday.
