"Taking cognisance of media reports and public outcry about the functioning of district hospital at Bandipora, the Minister for Health and Family Welfare has ordered a departmental enquiry to ascertain the facts about the state of affairs of the hospital," an official spokesman said.
He said Deputy Director Health Mohammad Shafi has been appointed as inquiry officer and he will submit his report within two days.
Sharma also asked the Director of Health Services to take immediate measures to upgrade the facilities for providing better care to patients in the hospital.
Meanwhile, local MLA Nizam-ud-Din Bhat also called on the Minister and requested for improvement of health facilities in the district hospital.
The Minister assured Bhat of all necessary steps in this regard.
