The minimum temperatures dropped by four to seven degrees Celsius. Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti had a low of minus 8 degrees Celsius, Kinnaur minus 3.4 and famous tourist resort of Manali minus 0.8 degrees Celsius while high altitude tribal areas reeled under biting cold conditions with mercury staying at 12 to 16 degrees below the freezing point.
The mercury plummeted across the state and Shimla recorded the minimum temperature at 3.3 degrees Celsius, followed by Bhuntar 3.6, Solan 5, Sundernagar 5.5, Palampur 6.5, Dharamsala 9.2, Nahan 9.4 and Una 10.2 degree Celsius.
The mid and lower hills experienced widespread rains and Banjar and Gohar had 28 mm and 24 mm of rains, followed by, Sundernagar 21 mm, Jhandutta 20 mm, Mandi and Seobagh 19 mm, Dharamshala 18mm, BhuntarandDehragopipur 17mm, Bajaura 15 mm, Manali 14 mm, Sujanpur 11 mm, Jubberhatti and Nurpur 10 mm, Tissa and Dalhousie 9 mm and Kheri 8mm.
The day temperatures also dropped marginally and Una was hottest with a high of 27.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar 21.2, Nahan 20.7, Bhuntar 20, Solan 19.5, Dharmshala 19. 2, Shimla 13.4, Manali 11.5 and Kalpa 9.4.
