Interim maintenance to kid enhanced due to high prices

A city court has enhanced the monthly maintenance amount awarded to a minor boy from his father, accused in a domestic violence case, in view of inflation and costly lifestyle in metro cities.
"In view of the fact that lifestyle in metropolitan cities is quite costly, the fact that there is a hike in price of various commodities of daily use and there is inflation, I am of the considered view that interim maintenance to the minor can be enhanced.
"Thus, the interim maintenance is enhanced from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 per month...Till pendency of trial," Additional Sessions Judge Ramesh Kumar said.

The court's order came on an appeal filed by the child's mother, who has lodged a domestic violence case against her husband, seeking enhancement of the interim maintenance amount awarded by a magisterial court on the ground that she had no source of income to maintain herself and the child.
The woman contended that the lower court had granted a meagre maintenance amount to her son while ignoring the fact that her estranged husband worked in a multinational company.
The woman, a south Delhi resident, had filed a complaint under provisions of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence (PWDV) Act against her husband, whom she married in 2014, alleging that he had mentally and physically tortured her for not bringing sufficient dowry and was later thrown out of the matrimonial house.
