Police should investigate the source of cash that is seized during searches conducted in the state, Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said in the wake of raids carried out by state government agency post demonetisation.
"I feel police during their investigation should find the source of the money. They should try to find out which bank has given the money," Parsekar said talking to reporters in Panaji.
He said in each raid, the source should be established as the money might have come from different sources.
Responding to a question, the Chief Minister said action is being taken by banks on its officials who are dispensing cash in illegal way.
"One lady bank officer has already been suspended in similar case," he said refusing to divulge more details.
Goa police have searched various places and recovered huge amount of money that is usually brought as a part of the deal to convert black cash into white.
Yesterday, police had suspended constable Vikas Naik who fled away with cash of Rs 34 lakh that was seized during the raid at Porvorim.
Responding to a question on action against the constable, Parsekar said he would not like to comment unless and until the investigation in the case is completed.
"I would not like to comment but I admit it is a serious matter," he said.
