The head of Iran's atomic energy organiSation is asserting that Tehran remains under some sanctions that were supposed to be removed through a landmark nuclear agreement with six world powers.
Ali Akbar Salehi says his country is honoring all its commitments but that "comprehensive and expeditious removal of all sanctions" outlined in the agreement "have yet to be met."
Salehi did not blame specific countries in his comments today to the International Atomic Energy Agency's general conference. But other Iranian officials have faulted the United States for perceived foot-dragging in lifting financial sanctions.
The deal with the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany constrains Iranian nuclear programs that could be used to make weapons in exchange for sanctions lifting. It took force this year.
