Irked by wrong names being read out; minister asks officials

Irked by the Public Relations Officer reading from the wrong list of beneficiaries, senior state Minister O Panneerselvam asked some officials connected with welfare scheme and the PRO to get off the dais and read out the list himself.
The minister said the programme had been arranged long ago and asked PRO Thangavelu why they were reading from the wrong list continuously.
Officials said that the minister was irked after the beneficiaries who were seated as per order said they were not the ones named and sought to know why proper arrangements had not been made and asked some of the officials, including the PRO, to get off the dais.

Panneerselvam then he took the list from the Collector and called the beneficiaries himself and distributed welfare schemes and ensured that other lists were in proper order.
He distributed benefits to the tune of Rs 4.45 crore to 483 beneficiaries.
The welfare schemes included "Gold for Thali" (Mangalya suthra).
