"IYC stands for the complete implementation of 73rd and 74th amendments in J&K. The only way to develop peace and prosperity is to empower the Panchyats," Rajiv Satav, IYC national president said while addressing one-day Panchayat conference in Anantnag belt of J&K today.
Satav said the J&K Panchayati Raj Act was not in line with the Act in force in other states.
"The institution of Panchayati Raj was empowered through 73rd amendment, which is the brainchild of the visionary Congress stalwart, former Prime Minister, Late Rajiv Gandhi," he said.
He said the key to decentralisation of powers is to effect desired reforms and bring the Act in line with 73rd amendment.
