J B Patnaik remembered on first death anniversary

Odisha today remembered former Chief Minister J B Patnaik on his first death anniversary as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled a statue of the former Assam Governor at Khurda.
A garden was also inaugurated on this occasion in the evening with the function also attended by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
"Janaki Ballav Patnaik was a great scholar, an eminent journalist and a successful politician," Naveen Patnaik said while attending the function.
Cutting across party lines, politicians paid floral tribute to the litterateur, journalist-turned politician at various functions organised across the state.
Apart from a meeting organised by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, programmes were organised by Cuttack City unit Congress, Jajpur, Athagarh, Rayagada and other places.

J B Patnaik died in Tirupati last year while he was there to attend the convocation of Tirupati Rashtriya Sanskruta University, of which he was the Chancellor.
He was Chief Minister of Odisha for three terms and also served as the Governor of Assam.
