"Out of 12 lakh farmers, the KCC has been issued to seven lakh farmers till date," an official spokesman said, after a review meeting of the scheme here.
The meeting was chaired by Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir and was attended by Commissioner/Secretary of the Agriculture Production department Asgar Samoon, Director of Agriculture of Kashmir Peerzada Mushtaq, Deputy General Manager of NABARD, representative of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, and senior officials of agriculture and revenue departments.
The bank authorities were also directed to explore the possibilities to cover the cocoon growers and farmers with no land holding but perform farming on tenancy basis under the KCC scheme, the spokesman said.
The spokesman said Rs 595 crore credit facilities have been provided to the 1.71 lakh Kissan Credit Card holders who opted to avail the benefit in 12 districts of Kashmir division.
