Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said the government is committed to continuing the incentives under the State's Industrial Policy to create enabling environment for top IT firms.
"My focus is on creating enabling environment in the state for top IT firms.
To maximise the opportunities of employment in the IT sector, we are committed to continuance of incentives under the State's Industrial Policy", Sayeed said here during a meeting with Reliance Group's high-level team.
The Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group announced that it would make a 500-seater call centre functional here from April next year, an official spokesman said.
He said the Reliance Group team is in Srinagar to work out modalities for setting up call centres in the twin capital cities of the state.
The team made a presentation on key enablers like infrastructure facilities, manpower and technology to be adopted for the call centres.
The proposed call centre at Srinagar is expected to provide employment to 1,500 youth, the spokesman said.
Sayeed was informed that all manpower to be employed at the call centres will be made through government agencies like State Employment Exchanges and Skill Development Schemes like Udaan.
To create a rich pool of human resource with diverse knowledge in IT sector that are in tune with the demands of job market, the chief minister called for devising a strategy for introducing specialised courses so that youth are acquainted with soft skills like spoken English, computer literacy and data entry.
During his visit to Mumbai last month, Anil Ambani had assured the chief minister of setting up of call centres in two phases in Srinagar and Jammu, which will provide job opportunities to around 3,000 youth.
Sayeed had also travelled to Chennai for seeking cooperation from top IT companies in investment in the state.
