The 61-year-old star revealed that one of the reasons he accepted Gavin O'Connor's crime film drama was, Affleck's presence in the project.
When asked what prompted him for "The Accountant", Simmons said, "The true answer is that, initially, it was just the script. That was definitely the first thing that appealed, and Ben was attached. I don't think we'd ever met at all, but I was a fan of his.
"The Accountant" follows the story of a small town man, Christian Wolf (Affleck), who works as a freelance accountant, for world's most dangerous criminal organisations.
The actor praised Affleck and Connor for developing the characters in a way that was "unbelievable".
"Ben did his homework and then, throughout the movie, he found the specificity in his work, so much of which is spent alone, obviously by design, and in the way that Christian is able to, or not always able to, relate to other characters in his life.
The Warner Bros film released in India last Friday.
