J'khand ready to implement Food Security Act from Sept 25

Jharkhand minister Saryu Roy today said the state government is ready to implement the Food Security Act from September 25, the birth anniversary of BJP leader Din Dayal Upadyay.
"The list of beneficiaries has been digitised and uploaded online and we are ready to implement it from September 25, the birth anniversary of Upadyay," the state Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Minister said here.
The approval of the Centre was awaited to implement the Act, he said adding the Principal Secretary of the department has gone to Delhi with the digitised list of beneficiaries to seek necessary approvals.
As per the digitised list of beneficiaries, the minister said the number of target heads has been increased, while the number of members reduced.
"While the target head of families has increased from 5,049,560 to 5,170,159, the number of target members reduced from 26,340,922 to 23,340,832," Roy said.
"We can still include around 30 lakh members in the beneficiary list," he said adding, as per the set guidelines, 60 per cent beneficiaries were identified and listed from urban area, while 40 per cent from rural pockets of the state.
On the distribution of ration cards among the beneficiaries, the minister said distribution work was on.
