The actor said it was intriguing for him to essay a "serious" character in the romantic drama.
"I will be seen playing a RAW agent, who is deployed to protect the daughter of the Prime Minister of India and what was intriguing for me was that I play a very serious character," Jaaved said in a statement.
"I will be shown teaming up with my ex-wife (Lisa Ray) for this mission, and the uncomfortable situation that arises because of this is another plot that runs simultaneously with the love story of the lead pair," he added.
Directed by Sameer Sippy and produced by Ajay Shah, Himanshu Gandhi and Shabeer Boxwala, "Ishq Forever" is scheduled to release on February 19.
