'Jagamohan' repair works over, ASI informs HC

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) today informed the Orissa High Court that the entire repair works of the 'Jagamohan' (prayer hall) of the Sri Jagannath Temple at Puri are over and it could be thrown open to devotees now.
The high court, monitoring the repair work undertaken by the ASI at the 12th-century shrine, had directed the ASI to complete the repair work of Jagamohan by February 28.
The high court had also asked the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) to ensure that the Prayer Hall is made accessible to the devotees as quickly as possible.
In another development, a division bench headed by Chief Justice Vineet Saran also wanted to know from the ASI as to when the 'Neelachakra' would be repaired.

The bench expressed concern over the appearance of cracks in some spokes of the 'Neelachakra', a blue coloured metal discuss mounted atop the temple.
The Orissa High Court is monitoring the repair work since 2016, while adjudicating over a public interest litigation seeking judicial intervention for an effective repair and renovation of the temple.
