The dawn-to-dusk statewide bandh called by Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP), along with a tribal organization, failed to evoke any response today as normal was unaffected, official sources said.
The bandh was called to protest the Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Jharkhand amendment) Bill, 2017.
Normal life in the steel city and its vicinity remained unaffected by the bandh as all shops and markets, business establishment, road traffic were normal and all school, banks, petrol pumps functioned as usual, the sources said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (CCR), Sudhir Kumar said around 45 JDP and Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan (ASA), a JDP affiliated tribal outfit, were rounded up in tribal-dominated Karandih, on the outskirts of the steel city, while enforcing bandh.
No report any violence was reported from any part of the city, he said.
