The 32-year-old actress, who made her big screen debut in 'Dream Girls' (2006) as Effie Melody White, which won her an Oscar, was emotional when she took to the stage, reported E!Online.
"I knew I would get emotional and I'm sure my mom is in heaven like 'Jenny stop crying' but now's the time to cry mama," Hudson said on the stage.
"This is an amazing honour as we all know and I did not see this coming. I'm so honoured to be here with so many that I love and I feel as though we're all a family," she added.
