'Jhumur' song workshop to begin at RBU
The heritage house is now a campus of the Rabindra Bharati University.
The workshop will be organised by the West Bengal State Akademi of Dance Drama Music and Visual Arts with financial support of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, a RBU spokesman said.
The participants in the workshop will be trained by noted Jhumur artistes of Bengal.
Jhumur is an ancient folk art of Purulia and Bankura districts of the state.
The RBU workshop is taking place days after a workshop on 'Chhau' dance where students of a school had interacted with exponents of 'Chhau' art for a week.
