The anti-encroachment wing of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) demolished 1,298 residential house and other structures, raised beyond 200 meters from the fringe of Dal Lake without permission, in Srinagar till December last, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saifullah informed the Assembly.
He replied on behalf of Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies to a question posed by Mohammad Yasin Shah.
Saifullah further said that in total 1,370 houses and structures have been raised without permission beyond 200 meters from the fringe of Dal Lake from October, 2011 till December, 2013.
The Minister said that FIRs have been lodged against 72 defaulters whose constructions came up in the notified and green belt areas.
