JK: Minor girl allegedly raped by teacher in school

A class VIII student was allegedly raped by her teacher in the school's office room in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir following which he was arrested, police said today.
The incident occurred in Chambalbas village of Banihal tehsil yesterday when the teacher, identified as Hayat Khan, allegedly raped the girl, they said.
On some pretext Khan had asked the girl to wait for him after the classes were over and later took her to the school office room where he raped her, a police official said.
When the girl returned home, she narrated the incident to her parents, who filed a complaint at the Banihal police station following which the accused was held.

"Raids were conducted and the accused was arrested by evening. A case under various sections have been registered against him (Khan) and the results of the medical test of the girl are awaited," Station House officer (SHO), Banihal Police Station, Nasir Ahmed said.
