JKNPP urges governor to dissolve assembly, hold fresh election

The chief patron of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, Bhim Singh, said today that the assembly should be dissolved and fresh election held along with parliamentary polls next year.

He requested Governor N N Vohra to dissolve the assembly, paving the way for fresh election.

Jammu and Kashmir was today placed under Governor's rule for the fourth time in the last one decade after the BJP withdrew support to its alliance partner PDP, prompting Mehbooba Mufti to resign as the chief minister.

The election to Parliament is being held in 2019 and it will be a unique opportunity for the people of the state to vote for the assembly as well as parliamentary polls (together) to ensure that the commitment of the prime minister is carried forward...," Singh said in a statement here.

He also made an appeal to the people of Kashmir Valley, particularly the younger generation, to welcome the pilgrims during the Amarnath pilgrimage, beginning next week.

Party chairman Harsh Dev Singh said the BJP-PDP rule would go down as the darkest chapter in the history of the state.

By compromising on all its professed promises as well as Jammu-based issues for the crumbs of power in the past three-and-a-half years, the BJP has pulled out from the coalition as a face saving exercise ahead of the forthcoming general election, Harsh Dev Singh told reporters here.
